In 1998, Jim Barefield moved to Crested Butte with his wife Kimberley and daughters Natalie and Brittany. Jim’s history in the Gunnison Valley goes back to the late 70’s when he worked in Crested Butte and then graduated from Western State College with advanced degrees in chemistry and biology. The Barefields bring a wealth of market, sales and business experience to their real estate company and clients — having owned a diverse number of businesses including a scientific instrumentation company and a publishing and marketing firm.
In the past 10+ years, Crested Butte has undergone a transformation that began with new ownership of the ski resort, the development of a mountain village, many new luxury developments and more amenities than ever. One thing that remains constant, |

historic nature of the town of Crested Butte and
the expansive beauty of the mountains and
forests that surround it.
Avid skiers and
bikers, Jim and his family are supporters of a
variety of local and national organizations,
especially those that support children, protect
animals, our wildlife and our environment. Some
of these include: Crested Butte Music Festival,
the Crested Butte School of Dance, the Crested
Butte Community School, and its PTA, the local
preschools, Adaptive Sports, Crested Butte Mt.
Biking Association, Paradise Animal Welfare,
National Parks Conservation Association,
National Public Radio and Televison.
